Pat Reidy is 27

August 17, 2005

It's hard to believe that 27 years ago today, I was the only 8-year old camper at Ramaquois Day Camp to get an extra end-of-the-day dessert. The reason? To celebrate the birth of my little brother. This seemed like the ultimate sibling birthday treat - two ice creams! - until our sister Ammo was born in May of 1980, at which time Rich Reidy came to El Dorado Elementary School and took me out to lunch at BURGER KING to celebrate. It's no contest as to which event I remember more fondly; a pulled-from-school Whopper, Jr. trumps a second Dove Bar any day of the week.

Nonetheless, I soldier on and celebrate Pat's birthday every year. There's a lot to cheer for, as this guy - my "little" brother, btw, is now taller than me, which makes him my "younger" brother - is living a life of leisure to be envied. In the winter, he works - and snowboards for free - in Beaver Creek, CO. In the summer, he's a tour guide in Glacier National Park in Montana. Here's a picture of him on top of the world in New Zealand - where he lived for a year dating Frodo's assistant. Happy birthday, you lucky dog!

Reidy, Apparently it is your brothers birthday. Happy B-day Patrick. I guess there was more, but I dozed off after the Burger King part. You take a week off and come back with this? I oughta punch you in the face.

Watch the threats, man. Pat Reidy was an award winning paint baller; you might just get splattered.
